"The placement of an ancient object in my compositions is the return of something that has already occurred, work in time and on time, of Man and the action of time on Man." Marc Padeu

Marc Padeu's work questions the memory of the past and the relationship to the spiritual in our current African societies. Africa still carries the heavy weight of Christianity, a legacy of colonisation. Christianity and the traditional? Would they share the same meal in this enigmatic vase symbolising perfection, love and knowledge, the Holy Grail. Is the history of Christianity a pale copy of African cosmogonies?
