Portrait de Justin Ebanda

"My artistic approach questions the collective amnesia of the history of world leaders in general and Africa in

particular. (...) My works are fictional narratives that question the modes and means of transmission of the collective memory, as well as the valorization and

popularization of the original African cultural heritage"

Justin Ebanda

Born in 1982 in Olama, Cameroon, Justin Ebanda lives between Yaoundé, Douala and Paris.

He is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de Paris Cergy-France and of the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Douala, Cameroon.

Justin Ebanda's work deals with the question of commemoration, he thinks both as a form of deconstruction, a form of reconstruction of an identity, as well as a form of decolonization.

The originality of his artistic approach lies in the questioning of collective memory, following the example of Georges Didi-Huberman, Bruce Clarke, Sammy Baloji, Christian Boltanski, Allen Ruppersberg and others.

By inviting the youth to take a journey into the past, in search of lost time, Justin gives them the opportunity to

dream.
